Halloween French Manicure

I've seen so many Halloween nail tutorials on YouTube lately, but I just haven't had the time to try any of them. Tomorrow is Halloween, so I don't have much time left!! I decided to create my own Halloween French tip. It's easy and fun to do, and doesn't take too much time!

I started off with a base coat (O.P.I - Original Nail Envy Nail Strengthener), then applied one thick coat of China Glaze's Cross Iron 360 from their Ski Collection. (This colour alone was perfect for autumn, but of course I was going for a more Halloween inspired look.) I then used a black polish to create the French tip (Anna Sui - 024). Finally, I applied one coat of glow-in-the-dark nail polish (O.P.I - Zom-body To Love) on top of the black tip. Now the tip becomes a dark green to black colour. I finished off with a top coat (Sally Hansen - Mega Shine).

Here's a recap of all the products I used:

Essie - Cocktail Bling + O.P.I - Servin' Up Sparkle

This is from Essie's newly released Winter 2011 collection. I'm not sure why this colour was named Cocktail Bling because this does not remind me of cocktails whatsoever... or maybe I've just misunderstood something..? Either way, Cocktail Bling is a cream blue-toned gray colour. Or in other words, it's very toned down grayish blue. I really like the consistency of this polish. Unlike most Essie polishes, this one is much less streaky. It also gives a nice cream finish. The photos below were taken without a top coat. I wouldn't say that this polish reminds me of winter or the holidays, but cheers to Essie for launching a creamy winter collection, unlike other brands' glittery ones.

Two days later... with top coat and different lighting...

Another day later... topped my nails up with O.P.I's Servin' Up Sparkle.  NOW this gives me a wintery feel =)

Nina Ultra Pro - Molten Copper

I've never heard of this brand of nail polish before, but when I saw that it was 3-free, I thought I would try it!  In the bottle, this polish looked very unique.  It's copper with a green duo chrome.  I still wasn't too sure about it, and it didn't really provoke any huge interest in it.  Either way, I just thought I would try.

When I first applied it, the polish is a bit sheer.  I was immediately disappointed, but since I put on one coat already, I may as well go full out.  I applied several more coats, maybe 4 coats or so, until the colour is opaque.  I then put on a top coat.

I looked at my nails again once they were dried, and wow... what a surprise!  What polish has 4 different shades of colour??  Immediately, I saw copper, gold, green and pink colours.  This is like a quadruple chrome colour!  Now I can't stop starring at my nails and seeing what colour it changes to as the light hits them at different angles.

I tried to take more photos at different angles and attached them below.  Hopefully you'll be able to see all the colours of this polish!!

Have you tried this brand of polish?  What do you think about the colour?

Nails Inc. Magnetic Polish - Houses of Parliament

This polish is so cool! I've never seen anything like it! I love technology =D

The way you make the effects is to put on a base coat like you normally would, then put on one coat of the Magnetic Polish. Once it dries, the next steps must be done on each nail before moving onto the next.  Be sure to detach the cylindrical cap from the bottle of polish.  This cap, which contains the magnet, will be used to make the effects.  Apply another generous coat of the Magnetic Polish on one nail.  While the polish is still wet, place the ridge on the cap onto your cuticle, so that the magnet is just above your nail (without touching your nail of course).  Give it a couple seconds, and your nail will have the magnetic effect!  Now repeat on other fingers for a cool magnetic effect manicure!

Without the effects, the polish itself is a nice satin-finish purple, which is already perfect for the season!  With the added magnetic effects, how can I complain?  It gives the nails a look like no other!  It's a very high-tech, sci-fi, 21st century kind of polish.  It's a little on the pricey side (CAD $18), but definitely worth it!  It's so cool, I can't stop staring at my own nails!

O.P.I - Vodka & Caviar + O.P.I - Gettin' Miss Piggy With It

This is your classic, everyday, go-to type of red. I love the consistency of this polish. You can build the colour up to a deep red, or apply a thin coat for a brighter red. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with this Vodka & Caviar, besides the fact that I love vodka mixed cocktails also!

Have you worn this polish before? What do you think?

A couple days later, I added my newly bought O.P.I's Gettin' Miss Piggy With It on top of the red base. It's sparkly red glitter with a few specks of silver flakes. Ahhh I love it! You can see I'm already getting prepared for Christmas, right? =D

Essie - Ballet Slippers

A classic sheer pale pink that can easily be built up to an opaque light pink colour.  At first it was a little streaky, but with more coats, it became a smooth finish.  In these photos, I had 3 coats on.
